Lucario is a bipedal, dog-like Pokémon with predominantly blue and black fur. It has a short, round pointed claw on the back of each front leg, in addition to a third on the chest. He has red eyes, a long muzzle and ears. When his mouth is open, two pairs of pointed teeth can be seen, one in the upper jaw and one in the lower jaw. His torso has cream-colored fur and his thighs a blue fur that seems to form shorts. The medium tail of the same blue color. He rests on his toes instead of his entire sole of the foot.

He has developed four black appendages hanging from his head that rise when Lucario reads or manipulates the aura, a special energy he feels. Lucario can use this energy to predict the movements of his opponents and follow their tracks. he also has the power to manipulate this energy in an offensive manner, in the form of explosive spheres of energy. Lucario can understand human speech and is known to be able to communicate with people through telepathy.
